Wala Wala Cafe Bar was set to leave at the end of August after ending its lease for the unit this year.
However, it has been announced that the popular nightlife hotspot will not be saying goodbye to the neighborhood.
"We are heartened to share that Wala Wala Cafe Bar will remain in Holland Village," the F&B establishment said in an Instagram post on Tuesday (Aug 26).
The initial decision to leave was made in June when owner Stanley Yeo expressed the challenges faced in sustaining the business at Holland Village, including declining foot traffic and increasing operational costs.
"Since then, we have been deeply moved by the overwhelming support from our community — customers, friends, suppliers, and neighbors alike. Your visits, stories, and kind words have reminded us of the role Wala Wala has played in so many lives," the caption read.
In addition to community support, Wala Wala mentioned the landlord's "generosity and understanding" as key factors in their decision to stay.
The post revealed that the landlord had offered revised terms, enabling the F&B establishment to prolong its presence in Holland Village.
"We now understand that Wala Wala holds significance — not just as a location, but as a place for gathering, shared memories, and a vital part of the village's essence.
"To everyone who has stood by us during this uncertain period — thank you. We eagerly anticipate continuing this journey, right here at home."
The positive update from Wala Wala stands in contrast to the recent departures of other longstanding establishments from Holland Village.
