Calling all food lovers! If you crave the rich flavors of French cuisine or simply enjoy discovering new dining gems, get ready to mark your calendars. Zouk Group is set to introduce its first-ever French restaurant concept—The Plump Frenchman—in Bugis during the week of June 16.
Andrew Li, CEO of Zouk Group, shared his excitement about this passion project. "As a longtime admirer of French food and culture, I’ve always wanted to create a space that captures the essence of a Parisian brasserie while infusing it with Zouk’s vibrant energy," he said. "The Plump Frenchman is all about hearty dishes, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and fresh."
The 70-seat brasserie will specialize in classic French comfort fare, crafted under the expertise of Lorenz Hoja, Zouk Group’s Chief Culinary Officer. Hoja previously led the kitchen at Singapore’s renowned L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, where he earned two Michelin stars in consecutive years (2016–2017). His vision for The Plump Frenchman? To make Gallic cuisine approachable yet unforgettable.
"French food shouldn’t feel intimidating—it should be about indulgence, generosity, and savoring every bite," Hoja explained. "Here, we celebrate leisurely meals with bold flavors that bring people together." Highlights from the menu include slow-roasted Demi Poulet Rotisserie ($17++) stuffed with herbs de Provence; Chipirons ($16++), tender baby squid filled with smoky chorizo; and playful twists like Tiramisu au Citron ($11++), where zesty lemon replaces coffee for a refreshing finale.
Weekday diners can opt for Menu de Canut—a series of value-packed set lunches/dinners available Monday through Saturday between 11:30 AM–2:30 PM or 5:30 PM–9 PM:
- $25++: Two courses (main + dessert)
- $35++: Three courses (starter + main + dessert)
- $47++: Four courses (two starters + main + dessert)
The design pays homage to vintage France with checkered floors , warm lighting ,and rustic accents — perfect for Instagram-worthy moments . This latest venture joins Zouk Group ’ s portfolio alongside artisanal sandwich spot Korio & international burger chain Five Guys across Singapore & Malaysia . Bon appétit ! p >
