Korean-Canadian singer Jeon Somi is set to make her official acting debut in the upcoming horror-thriller "Perfect Girl," alongside KPop Demon Hunters' Arden Cho, who is also co-producing the film, and Mortal Kombat II's Adeline Rudolph.
Delving into the competitive world of K-pop, the story follows a new girl group as they prepare for their debut. However, tensions arise when a new trainee is introduced, leading to a series of mysterious attacks that unsettle the girls.
Scripted by Lynn Q. Yu and helmed by director Hong Won-ki, the film will be brought to life by Badlands and Thunder Road Films.
The movie will also feature six original tracks, though it remains uncertain whether Somi or Arden will contribute to the soundtrack. Filming is scheduled to commence on October 27 in Asia.
Expressing his enthusiasm for Somi's acting premiere, Badlands' producer Scott Strauss expressed, "She is a unique talent whose on-screen chemistry with Arden and Adeline is exceptional. The trio will enhance our suspense, excitement, and drama, working closely with director Hong to present an authentic depiction of Korean culture and the K-pop universe."
At 24, Somi previously displayed her acting abilities in the 2017 Korean web variety show "Idol Drama Operation Team," where she collaborated with six other female K-pop idols — including Red Velvet's Seulgi and Mamamoo's Moonbyul — to write, produce, and act in their drama series titled "Let's Only Walk The Flower Road."
She recently dropped her second EP "Chaotic & Confused," featuring the title track "Closer" on August 11.
