On Saturday (Aug 30) at 7.29am, Johor experienced a weak 2.7 magnitude earthquake, as reported by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
This was the sixth quake in a week, starting with the one on Aug 24.
In a Facebook post, the department mentioned that the epicenter was approximately 2km northwest of Segamat, with a depth of 10km.
Segamat is located about 180km from Singapore.
Prior to this latest earthquake, another one occurred at 4.24am.
Experts are currently investigating whether the recent earthquakes in Segamat could be attributed to the reactivation of a small inactive fault or a different fault altogether.
